Our Tails-A-Wagn’ training team is equipped and ready to provide you with the tools and information you need to have a well-mannered dog that lives in harmony with your family. With 40+ years of experience in canine behavior and training, our team works with you to set foundational skills through positive, consistent, and reward-based techniques. We offer classes in obedience, scentwork, and agility, all varying in skill-level to best cater to your needs.
Explore Our Classes
Basic Obedience
Our Basic Obedience course teaches you how to teach your dog basic commands such as sit, stay, leave it, wait, and come as well as loose leash walking. Our trainer will also work with you to address any further challenges you may be facing in your training process. Please, no harnesses or retractable leashes in class.
Scentwork
We offer a variety of scentwork classes. These fun classes will challenge your pup to use their nose to search everything from containers to vehicles! Courses will vary depending on experience level, but will include building your dog’s search skills, introducing them to odor recognition, and working with distractions. Bring small, soft training treats to class.
Tricks
Who doesn’t love seeing their smart pup showing off skills? This class will focus on teaching you and your pup some fun new tricks! The focus will be on teaching beginner level tricks. If the dogs and handlers attending are capable of more advanced tricks, those will be focused on as well. At the end of class, students have the option of being evaluated for AKC tricks titles at no extra charge. We ask that you bring small, soft training treats to class.
AKC STAR Puppy
The AKC STAR (Socialization, Training, Activity, and Responsibility) Puppy class is specifically designed for puppies under one year of age. This class focuses on basic obedience commands and exposes your pup to new situations and experiences. Those who successfully complete the class are awarded the AKC Star Puppy ribbon.
Agility
Our agility classes are the perfect action-based activity for you and your pup! We offer classes for beginners as well as experienced dogs and handlers. If you are an experienced handler, our agility ring is available for rental during business hours whenever we do not have classes. For these classes, bring small, soft training treats and a toy to throw.
Weave Poles
This class focuses on introducing weave poles to your and your pup. Dogs will learn the skills necessary for independent weave pole performance during the course. If your dog is already doing weave poles, this could be a great opportunity to brush up on their skills! Please bring small, soft training treats and a toy to throw.
Training FAQ’s
We ask that for each class you bring small, soft treats as well as a flat buckle collar and leash to class, no harnesses or retractable leashes unless course instructor specifies. Besides that, we just ask that you bring yourself and your dog!
What should I bring to class?
Our agility classes require your pup to have been through a previous basic obedience class. If you took an obedience course at another facility, no worries! If you have a certificate of completion you may bring it, and our trainers may evaluate your dog to ensure that they are ready for the class.
Are there prerequisites for any classes?
Giving us a call or signing up online is the best way to reserve your spot in one of our classes. Once you have a class in mind, reach out and we will get your spot reserved!
